Thirty Five commuters who were on board a Metro Mass Transit (MMT) Bus that was travelling on the main Accra-Cape Coast Highway escaped death by the skin of their teeth when the bus caught fire.

The Bus with registration number, GR 5182-15 caught fire at the Opeikuma Junction on the Kasoa-Winneba stretch of the Highway after travelling some hours.

The incident, according to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei happened around 13:00 GMT.

The passengers after hurriedly alighting from the Bus through various means could not help but watch on as the state-owned bus was consumed by the fire.

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) arrived later at the scene but that was when the entire bus has been consumed.

An eye witness told Kofi Adjei that the fire started after the bus had two of its tyres blasting on the way.

The passengers thanked their stars and some were also grateful to their maker for saving them from death.
