A heavy Monday night downpour at Biakwaso and Anwona in the Adansi Asokwa district of Ashanti Region has rendered over 500 people homeless.

Information gathered by Adom News suggests some of the displaced people now live with relatives while others sleep in classrooms.

A few of the displaced people who spoke to Adom News said they have had to seek refuge in classrooms and other places they could find.

We get scared anytime the weather becomes cloudy because there is a bridge in this area which was not well constructed. Some of us have families and can’t leave in these places forever so the government should help us, one of the distressed people pleaded.

Obaapanin of Anwona Nana Abena Abuyaa, Queen mother of the area has appealed to the Member of Parliament for the Adansi Asokwa area, K.T Hammond to help get the bridge constructed properly for them.

The Adansi Asokwa NADMO Director Samuel Awi has given the assurance that he will liaise with the Regional Director to get some relief items for the affected people as soon as he can.
