Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, has called on Ghanaians to preserve and promote their cultural heritage instead of undermining it.

He made the remarks while addressing the media during the 2026 Aboakyir Festival celebration in Winneba.

Mr Afenyo-Markin urged citizens to take pride in their traditions and resist attempts by any group to condemn or downplay Ghanaian culture.

“A person without cultural identity has nothing to aspire for,” he said.

He further encouraged unity in safeguarding the country’s heritage, stressing that culture remains a key pillar of national identity and development.

The Effutu MP also commended the people of Winneba for a peaceful and successful celebration of this year’s festival, noting that such unity reflects the strength and resilience of Ghanaian traditions.
