The Upper Denkyira West District Assembly in the Central Region has supported 70 persons with disabilities with relief items aimed at promoting economic independence and improving their standard of living.

The intervention, funded through the District’s share of the Disability Fund, is designed to empower beneficiaries to engage in sustainable income-generating activities while easing the financial burden on their families.

Items distributed included deep freezers, sewing machines, washing machines, fufu pounding machines, pepper grinding machines, wheelchairs, and cash support.

The District Chief Executive, Isaac Nsiah, urged beneficiaries to remain resilient and make full use of the support, stressing that disability should not limit one’s ability to succeed.

He encouraged them to venture into small-scale businesses or pursue apprenticeship opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

The District Director of the Department of Social Welfare, Ibrahim Mustapha, also called for greater inclusion, emphasising that persons with disabilities play a vital role in national development and must not be discriminated against.

Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful, and pledged to use the items to improve their economic conditions and overall well-being.
