A DAF truck transporting marble stones caught fire at Ayensudo, near Aroma International School, along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway on Wednesday, August 5.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the truck was travelling from Takoradi towards Cape Coast when the incident occurred.

The fire was detected by a patrol team from the Customs Division, which spotted the burning vehicle and alerted emergency responders.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the truck engulfed in flames. They quickly brought the fire under control before completely extinguishing it.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire may have started after one of the truck’s rear tyres burst.

The driver told firefighters that he pulled over to inspect the damaged tyre but noticed flames shortly afterwards and immediately raised an alarm.

Although the blaze caused significant damage to the truck, the vehicle was not completely destroyed. No casualties were reported.
