Ghana forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has praised Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz, describing his early experience under the veteran tactician as a “blessing” as the team continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz, who has taken charge on a short-term basis following the departure of Otto Addo, is currently leading the squad’s training camp in Cardiff, where preparations are underway for an upcoming international friendly against Wales national football team on June 2.

The Ghana national football team began camp on Monday as focus intensifies on their roadmap to the tournament in North America, with players being assessed ahead of final squad selection.

Speaking to media channels of the Ghana Football Association, the Coventry City striker expressed his pride at representing the national team and his excitement about the project under Queiroz. Thomas-Asante currently plays for Coventry City F.C..

“I’m happy to be here, and we definitely want to prepare in the right way to go and be successful. It’s always the biggest privilege (to play for Ghana).

“It’s something that since I was young…to believe that I was going to achieve it one day and now to be here is incredible.”

He also highlighted the impact of the new coach’s methods on the squad’s development.

“He [Carlos Queiroz] is a very good guy. All of us are listening to how he wants us to play and understanding his ideas. It’s been a blessing,” he added.

Thomas-Asante, who is expected to be included in Ghana’s final 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after featuring in the provisional list, enjoyed a strong campaign at club level, scoring 13 goals and providing four assists in 34 appearances as he helped Coventry City secure promotion to the English Premier League.

Ghana will make their fifth appearance at the global tournament, where they have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia. They open their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field, before facing England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium and concluding the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
