Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku says he is the second most criticised public figure in the country, behind only President John Mahama.
Okraku made the remarks during the launch of the GFA’s UK Talent Identification Programme, where he reflected on the intense public scrutiny surrounding his role and football administration in Ghana.
According to the GFA boss, football discussions across the country frequently centre on his leadership, making him a constant subject of criticism.
“I am not too sure that in our country, there are more than two people who are more criticised than my good self,” he said.
“You take the president of the country out, the next most criticised person is Kurt Okraku.
“Each radio station has dedicated airtime to football, and believe me, every second of the day, the name Kurt Okraku is mentioned.
The GFA boss also referenced the backlash that followed the announcement of Ghana’s latest squad by head coach Carlos Queiroz.
“The Black Stars squad was released by head coach Carlos Queiroz. Go on social media and see who is attacked, it’s Kurt.”
His comments come as Ghana continues preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Cardiff, where the Black Stars are holding camp ahead of international friendlies against Wales on June 2 and Jamaica on June 10.
The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia as they seek to reach the World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 2010.
Ghana will begin their campaign against Panama on June 17 at BMO Field before taking on England on June 23 at Gillette Stadium. The Black Stars will wrap up their group-stage fixtures against Croatia on June 27.
