The Chief Executive Officer of Three Dreamers Manufacturing Ltd, Bismark Offei Ansah, says his company’s warehouse at Spintex was not located in a waterway but was severely affected by floodwaters from the June 29 rains, which he attributes to ongoing works on the motorway project.

Speaking in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, the visibly distressed CEO said the business has operated from the same location since 2018 without experiencing any flooding until now.

“We are not in a waterway. We have been here since 2018 and have never experienced anything like this,” he said.

According to him, the flooding may have been influenced by a newly constructed bridge under the motorway project.

He suspects the bridge may have been closed and later opened during the heavy downpour, allowing massive runoff from Aburi and surrounding areas to surge through the community.

“It is as a result of the ongoing motorway project; we are close to it. There is a new bridge constructed, and we don’t know whether it was closed and then opened because of the rain. Because all the floodwaters from Aburi and the mountain areas pass through there due to the intensity, everything in its path gets destroyed,” he explained.

Mr Ansah expressed disappointment that the contractor responsible for the project had not yet visited the site to assess the damage.

He added that the company has begun cleaning up the warehouse and is hoping for a visit from the Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ebi Bright, to discuss the way forward.

“We pray that God helps us to get back on our feet. We have started cleaning the warehouse,” he added.

Despite the destruction, some workers remain on site as part of the warehouse was not affected.

The CEO is now awaiting engagement with relevant authorities to determine steps toward recovery from the setback.
