Some members and stakeholders of the New Patriotic Party in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency have announced plans to stage a peaceful demonstration on Thursday, May 21, 2026, over alleged irregularities in the party’s internal electoral processes.
In a statement signed by Ampoful Adu Narkaah, the group said the protest is intended to draw national attention to what they describe as widespread manipulation during registration, nomination, vetting, and polling station elections.
According to them, several party members were unfairly excluded or disqualified despite established guidelines meant to ensure transparency and fairness within the process.
“The entire process within the constituency has been compromised,” the statement alleged.
The concerned members further accused some constituency executives and their agents of intimidation and unfair treatment during the exercise. They added that complaints submitted to the regional leadership of the party had not received adequate attention.
They argued that the situation poses a threat to unity within the constituency as the party looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.
“As concerned members of the party, we believe that the NPP requires unity ahead of the 2028 general elections. However, unity cannot prevail amidst injustice, lack of transparency, intimidation, exclusion, and unfair treatment,” parts of the statement read.
The group is demanding the annulment of the polling station election results, an independent investigation into the process, and fresh elections to be supervised by the party’s National Elections Committee.
The planned demonstration is expected to begin at UBAS Junction in Tarkwa and end at the Tarkwa Market Circle at 7:30 am.
Organisers say the protest will be peaceful and orderly, with assurances to both the public and security agencies.
