The Western Regional Police Commander, DCOP Vincent Dedjoe has hinted the Takoradi kidnapping suspect had existing relationships with his victims.

The Western Regional Police Command arrested a 28-year-old Nigerian identified as Samuel Udoetuk-Wills at his hideout in an abandoned building at Kansaworado in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.

Udoetuk-Wills is suspected to be the mastermind behind the kidnappings that have hit the twin city of Sekondi-Takoradi.

The suspects are demanding ransom from the victim’s family as a condition precedent to releasing their daughter.

However speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, DCOP Dedjoe explained the police team discovered in the course of their investigations that the suspects and the victims were quite familiar with themselves.

“We discovered the suspect had established acquaintances with the victims because his phone call log revealed several calls with the victims which means they were in constant communication. He even promised two jobs and another a mobile phone,” DCOP Dedzoe explained.

Mr Dedzoe urged the families of the victims and the general public to keep calm because the police don’t think the girls are in any kind of danger.

“The girls were not attacked on their way to church or any other place but were specifically called by the suspect to meet with him which they did,” he explained.
