Police in the Central region has picked up a suspect in the murder of the security guard at Abura Dunkwa.

Chaos erupted in the town Sunday when angry youth burnt five houses belonging to some Malians in the town who they suspect were behind the killing of the security guard.

This murder comes three weeks after the linguist of the town and his wife were killed in their home.

The youth of the town suspect that a group of foreigners residing in the community are responsible for the gruesome murders.

Wife of the murdered security guard allegedly told the youth of the community that her husband had told her prior to his death about an attempt on his life by a group of people whose description fit the foreign nationals who live in a Zongo community in Abura-Dunkwa.

Angry that law enforcement agencies have not been on top of the strange killings, the youth of the community launched their own attack on the Zongo community, torching houses and destroying properties.

But Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Serwaa Oppong said they have apprehended a suspect.

She noted that the suspect is key in the ongoing investigation to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the 56-year-old man.

The Central Regional Police PRO appealed for calm and urged residents to volunteer information for the arrest of the other suspects.
