Actor and vice president of Ghana Actors’ Guild (GAG), Van Vicker, has declared his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s decision to make education free for senior high school students.

According to him, it is not just a worthy initiative but also a major stride for the country, as such President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo needs to be commended.

The free SHS policy, which was a major campaign message for NPP leading up to the 2016 general elections, kicked off across the country on Monday, September 11.

The policy covers the full tuition of students. Parents and guardians will no longer pay for fees such as admission and examination. They will be given free uniforms, free meals, free textbooks, amongst others.

“I have a tremendous air of expectancy. I support FREE SHS, it’s a worthy cause. An ace effort for mother Ghana. #thebiggerpicture #Ghana#vanvicker #ygf,” Van Vicker said in an Instagram post on Monday.

In addition to the post was a photo of his wife, Adjoa Vicker, holding a placard with the inscription – “FREE SHS IS HERE”.
