This Friday, patrons of the Cultural Music Rendezvous will be treated to an unforgettable evening of live traditional music and dance, headlined by one of Ghana’s most seasoned groups, the Super International Band.
The Cultural Music Rendezvous is a highly anticipated annual event dedicated to celebrating and preserving Ghana’s rich traditional music heritage. Last year, the Wekumei Youth Cultural Ensemble thrilled audiences with a mesmerising performance that left patrons yearning for more.
This year, Super International Band is set to take audiences down memory lane with timeless folk songs such as Tuutuu Gborvi and Looflor Ni Yaa. In the group’s own words, missing this year’s event would be “gmagnolious!”
Speaking ahead of the performance, Lambert Owusu, a management consultant for the event organisers, highlighted the importance of cultural music.
“The excitement that traditional music brings to the older generation is refreshing. Cultural Music Rendezvous provides the perfect environment for adult audiences to relive cherished cultural experiences,” he said.
Another organiser, Benton Martey, emphasised the broader vision behind the event.
“By featuring renowned cultural music groups, we aim not only to reawaken the art of traditional music performance but also to inspire the younger generation to appreciate their cultural roots,” he noted.
