Director of Berekum Chelsea, Nana Oduro Sarfo, has insisted that portions of the regulations that will govern the Normalization Committee’s special competition cannot be applied so far as the tournament is concerned.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Mr Sarfo highlighted sections of the regulation he thinks the committee should do something about it.

According to him, Article 4 Clause 2 which talks about “fine and sanctioning” of teams in subsequent GFA competitions for failure to honour the competition will not be applicable.

He rubbished Article 6 and 7 of Clause 2 which says “the decisions of the Disciplinary Committee are final” and the clause requiring “captains are to write to protest against the eligibility of a player”.

“Article 4 of Clause 2 says a participating team that withdraws from the competition shall be fined GHC10,000 and additional sanctions in subsequent GFA competitions. You cannot take any action against anybody based on this competition regulation; it is Congress that has the power to suspend. The GFA President, the GFA General Secretary have no power to suspend anybody from a football competition but rather, it is Congress.”

Article 6 says all decisions of the disciplinary committee “are final” but the key word here should have been ‘shall be’ final; but they say ‘are final’; I think maybe it is a typographical error, they should correct it.

Article 7 Clause 2 says captains are those supposed to write to protest against the eligibility of a player; this is never done, it has never been done and it will never be done anywhere,” he said.

The Normalization Committee has finally released the fixtures for its Special Competition that will tentatively take off on February 15th.
