Former National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress, Joshua Hamidu Akamba, has spoken about social media commentary and what he describes as the spread of false claims and insults in politics.
Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show Dwaso Nsem, Mr Akamba said he is not active on most social media platforms and therefore does not engage in online political exchanges.
“All I see is that those on social media want to put lies on me to respond,” he said.
He explained that he is only active on WhatsApp and does not use other social media platforms.
“I am not on any of those social media platforms. It’s just WhatsApp,” he stated.
Mr Akamba added that he often receives screenshots of posts attributed to him, which he sometimes finds surprising.
“People sometimes send me screenshots of posts, and I ask them if they really believe I said those things on social media,” he said.
He expressed concern about the spread of misinformation and urged caution in how social media content is interpreted and shared.
