The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all constituency election committees to issue nomination forms to aspirants without requiring proof of payment at the point of collection.
In a notice signed by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party explained that the directive has become necessary due to delays being experienced on its nomination payment platform.
According to the party, the delays have been caused by heavy traffic on its server as aspirants continue to access the platform.
“Kindly note that due to heavy traffic on the party’s server, the nomination payment platform is currently experiencing delays,” the notice stated.
To ensure the nomination process proceeds smoothly and to ease pressure on the system, the party has authorised constituency election committees across the country to release nomination forms to aspirants even if they are unable to immediately provide evidence of payment.
The NPP, however, stressed that aspirants will be required to submit proof of payment during the vetting stage of the electoral process.
“Aspirants shall, however, be required to present evidence of payment during the vetting process,” the statement added.
The party expressed appreciation to constituency election officials and aspirants for their cooperation as efforts continue to address the technical challenges affecting the payment platform.
