Songstress Sista Afia has made an unqualified apology to Stonebwoy following backlash from some BHIM Nation fans over her request to collaborate with the Dancehall star.

The controversy started after Sista Afia took to X to appeal to Stonebwoy to feature on her latest song, a request she says was made out of genuine admiration for the award-winning musician.

However, what appeared to be a harmless appeal for a musical collaboration drew criticism from some BHIM Nation fans, who argued that she should have approached Stonebwoy through the official channels rather than publicly tagging him on social media.

Responding to the reactions, Sista Afia said her post had been taken out of context, insisting that she had no intention of disrespecting Stonebwoy or undermining the proper procedures for doing business in the music industry.

She explained that publicly expressing interest in working with artistes was something she had done with others and was never intended to bypass professional channels or show disrespect.

“I’m a big Stonebwoy fan, and he knows that,” she said, adding that her request came from a place of love and admiration.

The singer offered an apology to Stonebwoy, his team and anyone who may have felt offended by her approach, stressing that causing offence was never her intention.

“If my approach made Stonebwoy, his team, or anyone feel disrespected, I sincerely apologise. That was never my intention, and I would never intentionally disrespect someone I have so much admiration for,” she stated.

Sista Afia further urged fans not to turn the request into a dispute, maintaining that there was no bad blood, shade or hidden agenda behind her post.

She said she was simply an artiste expressing interest in making music with another artiste, and appealed to fans to view the situation in that light rather than interpret it as an act of disrespect.
