A young man who just completed his West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has moved social media users to tears after choosing to mark the milestone at his late mother’s gravesite.
A post shared by one Ohemaa Sakyiwaa shows the SHS graduate pouring wine onto the grave before laying a wreath, a quiet, deeply personal tribute to the woman who was not there to see him finish school.
The caption accompanying the post read: “A young boy pours champagne on his late mother’s grave after completing his WASSCE, wishing she was there to celebrate the milestone with him.”
The post drew an outpouring of warmth and sympathy from social media users who were moved by the gesture.
“May God give you good results in Jesus’ name. Keep the hope alive. All shall be well,” one user wrote.
“Well done son, mum is very proud of you and blessing you from heaven,” another added.
The young man is among over 500,000 candidates from 1,020 schools sitting this year’s WASSCE, which is expected to end on Friday, June 19, 2026.
