Seven suspected robbers terrorizing residents, traders and drivers in the Affram Plains enclave have been arrested by the Eastern Regional Police.

A police operations team led by Nkawkaw Divisional Crime Officer, DSP Daniel Azugu arrested suspects Mohammadu Aliu 20, Abubarkar Saddick 25, Gagli Ali 40, Osmanu Mohammadu 33, Osmanu Aliu 17, Jalo Ishaiku 58 and Umaro Sanda 25.

The recent arrest follows a huge demonstration by residents and traders who had suffered at the hands of the robbers.

Regional police, PRO, DSP Tetteh in an interview on Adom News said intelligence gathered indicate that suspects who were arrested at a hide out between Sambour Barrier and Nkyenenkyene are part of the gang that have been robbing traders and commuters on the Kwahu Tafo – Adawso highway.

He said a week ago, they engaged in a similar swoop and arrested eight suspects who are currently on remand.

DSP Tetteh noted that, the seven suspected robbers are currently in police custody and will be arranged before court within the week.

He appealed to the public to volunteer information to enable them apprehended the other suspects on the run.
