Sammy Awuku, NPP National Organiser

Sammy Awuku, the National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says the Central regional committee of the party should not take the law into its own hands.

His comment follows the recent suspension of the Central regional 1st vice chairman of the NPP and controversies surrounding it.

“Brothers of the Central region, we can’t destroy our own property because of party discrepancies,” he noted.

Mr Awuku added that the heads of the party will meet to analyse the matter to know the way forward. He, however, condemned any act of violence over the matter.

“NPP condemns any act of vandalism. Defaulters are not going to be condoned. Party members must know there are rules and should not take the law into their hands,” he warned.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr Awuku further advised that party matters should be resolved in the party.

“Party matters are not to be resolved on radio. The approach of the constituency chairmen in putting their grievances on paper to the party leaders was a better option as compared to those who decided to take the law into their own hands and handling the issue as they saw fit,” he said.
