The National road safety Ambassador, Gabby Adu Gyamfi has once again been honoured by the chief and people of Akyem Kade

The Chief of Akyem Asuom, Osabarimah Ofosuhene Apenteng II who conferred the honour at a training and awards ceremony at Asuom commended the ambassador for his working tirelessly to reduce carnages.

“Looking at the work of Mr. Gabby Adu Gyamfi in the country, he deserves a push…,” he said while conferring the honour on him.

The National Road Safety Ambassador was in Asuom to educate drivers and motorists on road safety and also to ensure that motto riders in the area acquire licenses to drive. Commercial drivers with expired licenses were also given the opportunity to apply for a driving license.

Gabby Adu Gyamfi is an accident victim who only survived while 30 passengers died in an accident which occurred on the 11th Jan 2003 at Sawuah Junction on the Kumasi-Lake Bosomtwe road.

Ten years after his accident, Mr Adu Gyamfi started his road safety advocacy.

In collaboration with the DVLA and the Road Safety Commission, Mr Adu Gyamfi has been organizing workshops to educate drivers and pedestrians alike on road safety.

Osaberimah Ofosuhene Apenteng II called on the general public to encourage the Ambassador to do more, hence the honorary award.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kade, Seth Antwi Bosiako also commended Gabby Adu Gyamfi for his bold steps to come out to help mitigate road accidents in the country.

He also called for an establishment of an annex of the DVLA at Akyem Kade as most of the drivers in the town are driving without licenses.

Mr. Gabby Adu Gyamfi dedicated the award to his Mom, family,  the National Road Safety Commission, a nurse who also helped him during the time he was involved in the accident, and the general public for all their efforts that has brought him this far.
