Raphinha scored a second hat-trick in successive games as Barcelona claimed a comfortable victory over Sevilla which increased their lead at the top of La Liga.

The in-form Brazilian produced a clinical display of finishing at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium to take his goal tally this season to 14 in all competitions.

Raphinha also hit a treble in the 7-2 win over Racing Santander last Wednesday.

Barcelona’s win moved them up to 21 points – six clear of both Real Madrid in second and third-placed Real Betis, but having played a game more.

Real visit city rivals Atletico Madrid on Sunday (15:15 BST), while Betis travel to Deportivo La Coruna (17:30).

Sevilla opened the scoring in the 19th minute after a well-worked move culminated in Felix Correia’s cross to the near post where Youssouf Fofana nodded in.

But Raphinha got Barca back on level terms three minutes later when he checked back inside and calmly struck the ball beyond Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos.

Teenager Lamine Yamal was instrumental in Raphinha’s second in the 52nd minute when he dribbled away from goal before he clipped a cross for the ex-Leeds man to head in.

Yamal was the supplier again in the 69th minute when he slipped in Raphinha with an exquisite pass and the 29-year-old deftly chipped it over Vlachodimos.

It sealed a seventh straight league win for Barca – their eighth in all competitions – while Sevilla remain in fifth place on 13 points.
