Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has joined French Ligue 1 side Nice on loan from Rennes.
The 26-year-old’s move was completed after extending beyond the main transfer window, with Nice bringing him in to strengthen their defence following injuries to Antoine Mendy and Moise Bombito.
Seidu, who was part of Ghana’s squad at the 2026 Fifa World Cup, had already held talks with Nice during the summer before completing the move.
“I’d already spoken to the club during the summer. In the end, I’ve joined slightly later than planned but with an enormous amount of motivation,” Seidu said.
“I want to play, to be on the pitch and to help the team and the club. I’m going to give everything to make sure that we have a good season together.”
Nice president Maurice Cohen welcomed the Ghana international, saying the club was confident he would quickly adapt to his new surroundings.
“Alidu is a very good player with a great mentality, and we’re certain that he’ll adapt quickly and that he’s a perfect fit for what the coach wants to put in place,” Cohen told the club’s media.
“He’s in the prime of his life. I think that the fans will enjoy his style, and I know that he’ll do great things with Le Gym.”
Meanwhile, Alidu Seidu has been left out of Black Stars squad for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening games against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, and the friendly game against Morocco all slated for this month.
