Rape and Defilement victims must ensure that they do not bath until medical Doctors and Police get all clinical evidences solid for prosecution, this is advice from Program Implementation Manager of Compassion International Ghana(CIGH), Florence Sena Amposah.
She was speaking Wednesday at 2017 Somanya Cluster Conference organized for its volunteers and caregivers including Pastors and teachers on the theme “Naturing and Protecting the Child for a Better Future”.
Florence Sena Amponsah explained that, vital clinical evidences are tempered with whenever defilement and rape victims bath, wash the vagina and wash panties before going to the Police station to report and subsequently to the Hospital for medical examination.
She therefore admonished complainants to always send victims to Police station with sperms, blood and torn  panties.
“You must educate parents and guardians not to let their rape and defilement victims bath or wash their panties before going to the Police station to report. If you do that, you temper with evidences needed to aid prosecution” she told the participants.
She called for collaborative effort by stakeholders to help curb child abuse cases particularly sexual abuses which are on rise.
According to her, a total of 25,468 children in Ghana were sexually abused between 2012 and 2014 adding that, every 10 seconds a child abuse case is recorded in Ghana.
Asuogyaman District tops child abuse cases among children between 14 and 18years as recorded by Compassion International Ghana this year in its operational areas, which the organization is supporting the Police to prosecute the culprits.
