Ghanaian forward Prince Kwabena Adu was the match-winner on Saturday as Viktoria Plzen secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Banik Ostrava at Městský Stadion.
The 22-year-old made the difference in the 35th minute, calmly finishing off a well-worked move set up by Amar Memic to hand the visitors all three points in a tight contest.
Adu, who impressed throughout the encounter, was substituted in the 72nd minute to a warm reception, with Mohamed Toure introduced as Plzen sought to protect their slender lead. His performance earned a strong 7.6 match rating, underlining his growing influence in the squad.
The goal takes Adu to seven strikes in 25 appearances in the 2025/26 Czech First League season, alongside one assist, as he continues to play a key role in Plzen’s push for European qualification.
The win moves Viktoria Plzen to third place on 53 points after 30 matches, keeping them firmly in the race for a top-three finish.
It also ended a frustrating run for the club in front of goal, following a 0-0 draw with Slavia Prague and a 1-0 defeat to Pardubice in their previous two league outings.
