Four (4) people have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident on the Winneba – Cape Coast highway in the Central region.

Nine others who also sustained various degrees of injuries were rushed to the Winneba government hospital and the trauma and specialist centre for treatment.

The Winneba District MTDD Commander DSP Charles Obiri who disclosed this Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the accident occurred Monday night around 7:30pm specifically at Okyereko in Gomoa West near Winneba.

According to him, three vehicles – a Hyndai Grace commercial vehicle with registration number GW 5296-13, a pickup with registration number GV 1263- 14 and a Sprinter bus with registration number  CR 1147 14 – were involved in the accident.

DSP Charles Obiri said the Hyundai Grace vehicle which was on its way to Accra tried to overtake an articulated truck and in the process collided with the Sprinter bus and later hit the Toyota pickup which was heading towards the Cape Coast side of the road.

The driver and mate of the Hyundai Grace as well as the driver of the Sprinter bus lost their lives instantly with seven passengers from the Hyundai Grace sustaining various degrees of injuries.
