The Wa Police in the Upper West region have arrested a 45-year-old mother and her son for inflicting deep cuts on her twin daughter, Victoria and Vivian Dabuo, 16.
The two girls were accused of stealing GHS200.00 from their mother Biana Dabuo, a locally brewed bear – pito – vendor.
According to the police, Madam Dabuo ordered her eldest son, John Dabuo to whip the two girls until they confess to the crime.
He complied by picking his two sisters to the Wa Sports Stadium where he cut them with a blade to compel them to speak the truth.
The twin girls, with multiple wounds on their bodies, reported the incident to the Wa police.
Police picked up the mother and son on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Kumbiehi, a suburb of Wa.
The police have prepared medical forms for the two sisters to attend hospital.
Madam Dabuo and her son are currently in police custody and will be put before court after investigations.
Is an unfortunate incident but still there should be a way to reconcile the children to their mother since they will still need her care. If the mother is incarcerated now, who will be the care taker for them? The state does not have the apparatus to cater for these children.
She should be cautioned and be allowed to go back for children. That their brother should be made to face the law equally and see how it is. I believe he may be on drugs because any sane person will not do what he did.
