Tears continue to flow for 10-year-old Emmanuel Offei and 27-year-old Abigail Ocloo who met their untimely death last Friday at Akosombo in the Eastern region.

10-year-old Emma was with a friend during a downpour but fell into a gutter trying to pick his pair of slippers which had fallen into it.

Abigail who later tried saving him along the way ended up being a victim too.

According to Emmanuel Offei’s father, Paul Offei, his son returned home from school and asked him to stay put as the rain came down.

On the father’s blind side, the child joined his friend to bath in the rain.

Emma who had fallen into the gutter was helpless as the current of the water was strong enough to wash him into a bigger drain.

Paul Offei who was in tears tells Adom News’ Kwame Yankah that his son was a clever pupil and was admired by his teachers.

“I’m yet to come to terms with how this could have happened to my brilliant son. The saddest part is that a ‘good Samaritan’ trying to save my son ended dying too,” the weeping father said.

At Abigail Ocloo’s end, relatives had gathered to brood over their loss.

Her father, Robert Ocloo indicated that Abigail left behind two children who have been asking of their deceased mother since last Friday.

“A devoted Christian and chorister she was. Her absence is already being felt by all. It is a difficult time for us as a family. A ‘good Samaritan’ who ends up dying…this is pathetic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abigail’s friend, Docia Mansua who narrated what exactly happened in tears said they saw Emma being washed away and decided save to him.

“We were returning home after selling like we do every day. This time around, someone was in danger and we decided to salvage the situation,” she said.

The two then decided to stand at either side of a culvert where Abigail and Docia believed they could save Emma.

However, this could not materialize as Abigail was carried along after descending into the gutter.

Docia then raise alarm for help but that was not enough to save her friend who was found unconscious in a storm drain close to the Fire Service station.

Abigail however gave up the ghost at VRA hospital after some minutes but 10-year-old Emma was found dead close to the Volta Lake.

According to Docia, little did she know that her closest friend was going to part ways with her in a bizarre manner?

“I’m neither able to eat nor sleep. The last time I ate was Friday when Abigail and I had lunch together after selling like we always do. I will be home for about a week because my only friend is no more,”she revealed.

The bodies are currently at VRA hospital morgue for preservation.
