Police in Kasoa have arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly defiling a six year-old girl in his room at Budumburam in the Central Region.
Father of the victim, Mohammed Fadril narrating the incident to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei said the accused, Gabriel Francis, who is also a trader in the area forcibly had sex with the victim when he send her on an errand.
According to him, he had noticed that whenever the daughter goes out, the 65-year-old man who is also tenant in the house calls her into his room.
“This man has taken my daughter as her god daughter and so anytime she goes to his room, I don’t have any bad intention only to realize later that he has been sleeping with my daughter” he said.
Mr. Mohammed Fadril said later when he realized that his daughter was coming from the suspect’s room; he questioned her and she told him that Gabriel Francis has forcefully had sex with her.

Commander at the Kasoa Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service DSP Florence Annaman who confirmed the incident to Adom News said upon interrogation, the suspect has been sleeping with the victim for quiet sometime now.
She said father of the victim upon realizing did not hesitate to lodge a complaint with the DOVVSU in the area leading to the arrest of the suspect.
She indicated that, medical form was issued to the father for the victim to take to the hospital for treatment and examination.

Meanwhile, the suspect, Francis who denied the act on the first count, later pleaded guilty to the offense. He is still in police custody assisting with investigations.
