Parliament has clarified that a notice displayed on its premises directing 2026/2027 National Service personnel to seek reposting does not represent a freeze on National Service placements.

The clarification follows public reactions to a notice on Parliament’s notice board which read, “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting.”

According to Parliament, the notice was a routine administrative communication intended for prospective National Service personnel who had reported to the institution.

It explained that Parliament had received more personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 service year and therefore advised some of them to seek reposting to other institutions.

Parliament stressed that the notice was not a policy decision or indication that it had withdrawn its support for the National Service Scheme.

The institution said it remains committed to the scheme and continues to value the contribution of National Service personnel to its operations.

It also expressed regret over the confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the notice.
