More than 200 schoolgirls in the Bodi District of the Western North Region have benefited from a free sanitary pad distribution exercise aimed at improving menstrual hygiene and promoting girls’ education.

Access to menstrual hygiene products remains a major challenge for many schoolgirls in the Bodi District, affecting their health, confidence, and school attendance.

The high cost of sanitary pads has made it difficult for some parents and guardians to provide these essential items for their daughters. This situation often leaves young girls vulnerable to risky relationships in search of financial support, which can result in teenage pregnancies and school dropouts.

To help address the challenge, World Vision Ghana distributed free sanitary pads to over 200 schoolgirls in the district. The beneficiaries were also taken through educational sessions on menstrual hygiene management, personal safety, and the proper use and disposal of sanitary pads.

Speaking at the event, World Vision’s Care Project Officer for the Bodi Area, Stephen Matey, said the initiative forms part of efforts to improve menstrual hygiene among girls and protect them from vulnerabilities that could negatively impact their future.

Some beneficiaries expressed appreciation to World Vision for the support, describing the donation as timely and beneficial to their well-being and education.
