The Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ofori-Atta Evans, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for the construction of a new concrete bridge at Akyem Abenase.
He described the project as a significant relief for residents and motorists who previously faced difficulties using the old bridge.
According to Mr Ofori-Atta Evans, the new structure has improved transportation and eased the movement of people and goods within the community and neighbouring areas.
He said the development was particularly important because the previous bridge, constructed during the administration of Ghana’s first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, had deteriorated significantly over the years and posed safety concerns to commuters.
Mr Ofori-Atta Evans made the comments when he distributed more than 6,000 palm oil seedlings to NDC polling station executives in the Ofoase-Ayirebi Constituency.
He explained that the initiative was aimed at supporting party members to establish sustainable sources of income and improve their livelihoods.
The constituency chairman stressed that grassroots party members must also benefit from the NDC’s successes, given their contribution to the party’s electoral victories.
He therefore appealed to the government to continue prioritising the welfare of party foot soldiers, whom he said worked tirelessly at the grassroots to mobilise support for the party.
