The Ahafo Regional Director of the National Service Authority (NSA), Alhassan Mohammed, has embarked on a region-wide monitoring and supervision exercise to ensure that national service personnel are reporting to their duty posts and delivering value for money to the government.
The first phase of the exercise began at Hwidiem in the Asutifi South District under the theme, “Reaching Out to Every Service Personnel Within Ahafo Region.”
Speaking to Adom News, Mr. Mohammed said the exercise would cover all institutions across the region where national service personnel have been posted.
According to him, the initiative is aimed at verifying the attendance and performance of service personnel while ensuring that those receiving monthly allowances are actively carrying out their assigned duties.
He explained that beyond monitoring attendance, the exercise also provides an opportunity to engage with service personnel and encourage them to take advantage of their national service year by acquiring new knowledge and practical skills that will prepare them for the job market.
Mr. Mohammed warned that his administration would not tolerate personnel who absent themselves from work but continue to receive government allowances.
He stressed that all service personnel are expected to discharge their responsibilities diligently and justify the investment government is making in the National Service programme.

Meanwhile, a national service person at Hwidiem Senior High School, Bonah Angela, commended the government for the timely payment of monthly allowances to service personnel.
She, however, appealed for an upward review of the allowances to help them cope with the rising cost of living.
Ms. Angela also described the Regional Director’s monitoring exercise as a positive initiative, saying it would encourage service personnel to take their assignments more seriously while equipping them with the discipline and experience needed for future employment.
She expressed optimism that the exercise would improve accountability and enhance the overall effectiveness of the National Service programme in the region.
