The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is not surprised the government is peddling obvious untruth with economic figures.

According to a former Deputy Minister of Energy, John Jinapor, most of the economic figures being churned out by the Akufo-Addo government are fake.

Hon. Jinpor made the comment at the NDC’s maiden Energy Forum in Accra.

Commenting on the recent Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rate put out by the government, the former Deputy Energy Minister said it was the worst under the Akufo-Addo government.

“NPP inherited 56% of debt to GDP ratio but doing 62.8% today so how can Dr Bawumia claim Debt to GDP ratio is better today?”  he quizzed.

The former Deputy Minister said he was not surprised since the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had been able to turn a fine heart surgeon into a “galamsey kinpin.”

Turning his guns to the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, he said the ruling party has also turned him [Bawumia] into a propagandist.

“If the NPP has turned a fine heart surgeon into a galamsey kingpin, then it can turn an economist [Dr Bawumia] into a propagandist,” he said.

Mr Jinapor made a strong case for the NPP to be voted out in the next general election because their record is nothing to write home about.
