A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Council of Elders, Eileen Mary Posch-Oduro, has called for greater recognition of the party’s Germany branch, particularly in appointments and opportunities for qualified members.

She made the appeal during the NPP Germany Branch’s Thanksgiving and Unity Weekend held in Frankfurt and Hannover from October 9 to 10, 2026.

According to her, the branch has not received sufficient recognition through government appointments under previous NPP administrations led by former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

She urged the party to give qualified members of the Germany branch greater consideration for appointments and other opportunities should the NPP return to power.

The event also brought together party members and supporters to reflect on the party’s future and the role of its diaspora branches in strengthening its structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Member of Parliament for Akuapem North, Sammi Awuku, urged party members to embrace humility, discipline and collective responsibility, stressing that leadership should be built on trust and service.

He also encouraged the party to create opportunities for young people and draw on the contributions of Ghanaians in the diaspora.

The MP for New Juaben South, Michael Okyere Baafi, called for commitment and teamwork, warning that internal divisions and acts of sabotage could undermine the party’s ambitions.

He urged members to rally behind the party’s leadership and work towards its 2028 electoral goal.

The programme featured Islamic prayers in Frankfurt and a Christian thanksgiving service and dinner in Hannover. It was attended by party members and other guests, including Ghanaian-born German mayor Raymond Höptner, Samuel Owusu Amankwaa, Nana Shackie Frimpong, first vice-chairman of the NPP Sweden branch, and Afia Animwaa Agyemang of the NPP UK branch.

The organisers expressed appreciation to the participating branches, members and volunteers for their contributions to the event.
