Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Officers Elections Committee, Fredrick Opare-Ansah, says the committee has put measures in place to ensure a smooth and orderly national officers election.
He said the committee has been engaging stakeholders and the public throughout the process to ensure that all arrangements are in place for delegates to cast their ballots without difficulty.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Mr Opare-Ansah said the Electoral Commission (EC) is conducting the election in accordance with guidelines provided by the NPP.
“Our focus is to put in place all the measures to make the party stronger. Every point of the way, we, the committee, engage all the stakeholders and the public,” he said.
He explained that the EC has established dedicated voting centres for members of the party’s various wings, including the youth, women and Nasara wings.
According to him, five polling centres have been allocated to the youth wing, while the women’s wing has three and Nasara has two, based on their respective numbers.
Mr Opare-Ansah said the voting arrangements will be concentrated at the stadium, with 21 voting centres organised around the regions.
He explained that regions with larger numbers of delegates would have additional voting arrangements to prevent congestion and ensure an efficient process.
He said each voting centre would have booths where delegates would cast their ballots for the various national officer positions.
“There will be five booths there for you to select the chairman, organiser and the others. Then if you are qualified for any of the wings, you go to their booth and vote,” he explained.
The committee is expecting a total of 7,163 delegates to participate in the election.
Mr Opare-Ansah urged delegates to arrive at the venue early to enable the process to begin and end on schedule.
“We are expecting a total of 7,163 delegates, and we are hoping that the delegates come on time so we are able to finish on time,” he said.
He added that the Electoral Commission had indicated that completing the voting process by noon would allow the rest of the election activities to proceed smoothly.
“The EC has assured us that if we are able to complete the election by 12, it will be good enough for everything to run smoothly,” he said.
