The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta North in the Oti Region, Isaiah Kujo Dordoe, has handed over 960 metal desks and 32 sets of teachers’ chairs and tables to the District Education Directorate for onward distribution to schools across the district.
The consignment also includes round tables with chairs designed for kindergarten pupils, aimed at making classroom learning more comfortable and child-friendly.

Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony held at the Nkwanta North District Assembly premises, Isaiah Dordoe said the donation reflects the government’s continued commitment to expanding access to quality education.
He noted that the district has witnessed steady improvements in educational infrastructure in recent years, and the latest support is intended to strengthen those gains.

According to him, the furniture forms part of efforts by the government and the Assembly to reduce the district’s furniture deficit and improve the teaching and learning environment, particularly in schools where pupils still contend with inadequate seating.

The DCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s readiness to work closely with the Education Directorate and other stakeholders to address pressing challenges in the education sector and ensure that pupils study under conducive conditions.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Directorate, the District Director of Education, Dickson Bansah, expressed gratitude to the Assembly for its consistent support.
He acknowledged that while desk shortages remain a concern in some schools, the situation has improved significantly due to interventions made over time.
Head teachers and beneficiary pupils who spoke to Adom News also commended the government and the Assembly for the gesture and pledged to take good care of the furniture to ensure its long-term use and value to the schools.
