The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman for the Asante Akyem North Constituency, Peter Abaje, has called on the government to prioritise sanitation and environmental sustainability by ensuring the timely distribution of sanitation equipment to local assemblies.

According to him, providing the necessary equipment to the various assemblies will enable them to effectively tackle sanitation challenges and maintain cleaner communities.

Mr Abaje made the appeal in an interview with Adom News during a sanitation exercise organised by the NDC in the Asante Akyem North Constituency at Ananekrom.

He said poor sanitation and environmental degradation continue to pose significant threats to public health, livelihoods and sustainable development, requiring stronger interventions from government and other stakeholders.

He therefore urged the government to increase investment in sanitation and environmental protection while ensuring that assemblies receive the resources needed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Meanwhile, the Queenmother of Ananekrom, Nana Yaa Fosuaa, also stressed the importance of making environmental protection a key priority in the municipality.

She urged residents and local authorities to collaborate in keeping their communities clean and healthy.

Nana Yaa Fosuaa noted that maintaining proper sanitation requires collective responsibility and sustained efforts from both authorities and residents.
