A mother of four girls at Gomoa Dominase in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region, Antoinette Boakye, has alleged that her husband, 44-year-old Emmanuel Ekumfi, attempted to suffocate her with a pillow after she discovered that he was allegedly sexually abusing their daughters.
Madam Boakye said the alleged incident was part of what she described as a prolonged pattern of physical and emotional abuse during their marriage.
According to her, marital disputes had previously forced her to leave the matrimonial home and return to her family.
She alleged that while they were still living together, her husband subjected her to various forms of abuse, including an incident in which he allegedly attempted to suffocate her with a pillow while she was asleep.
She also made further allegations concerning their intimate relationship, claiming that her husband used heat-inducing substances on his genitals during sexual encounters, which she said caused her severe pain.
Madam Boakye said her concerns about the safety of her children intensified after she returned to the family home at Gomoa Dominase to check on her daughters and noticed unusual medical symptoms in her 12-year-old daughter.
She said when she questioned the child, the girl allegedly disclosed that her father had sexually abused her.
Madam Boakye further alleged that subsequent inquiries revealed that all four of her daughters, aged 12, 8, 6 and the youngest, had allegedly been subjected to sexual abuse by their father.
She claimed the children were also allegedly threatened with violence to prevent them from disclosing the incidents.
The matter was reported to the Millennium City District Police Command, which subsequently arrested Emmanuel Ekumfi.
He was later arraigned before the Akweley Magistrate Court in Kasoa and is facing charges related to the allegations.
The case remains before the court, with investigations ongoing. It has been adjourned to September 15, 2026.
The allegations have not been proven in court, and the accused is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
