The Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong has suspended Rev. Fr. Samuel Adapore indefinitely over what it describes as serious acts on the part of the priest.
The suspension, which takes effect from Monday, August 24, 2026, was announced in a statement signed by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Konongo-Mampong, Most Rev. John Opoku-Agyemang.
Rev. Fr. Adapore, who was the Rector of St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate at Nkwantakese, has been barred from publicly administering the sacraments, including celebrating or concelebrating Mass and officiating at other liturgical services.
According to the Diocese, the decision was taken by the Bishop in consultation with the College of Consultors.
The Diocese said the suspension followed the priest’s unilateral decision to take a leave of absence from the Diocese and abandon his pastoral ministry at St. Anthony of Padua Rectorate, Nkwantakese, without legitimate permission.
It cited Canon 533 §1, stating that the priest’s action was in contravention of the provision.
The Diocese also alleged that Rev. Fr. Adapore removed all his personal belongings from the mission house at Nkwantakese without recourse to the relevant authorities.
It further stated that the priest had blocked all access to him and that his immediate family members had maintained that they did not know his whereabouts.
In the letter addressed to the clergy, consecrated men and women, and Christ’s faithful, Bishop Opoku-Agyemang described the decision as one taken “with a heavy heart but a great sense of duty to Holy Mother Church.”
The Bishop urged the faithful to remember Rev. Fr. Adapore in their prayers.
