Mcdan Shipping Company has won the maiden edition of the Airfreight Corporate Gala that came off on Friday, the 1st of September,2017 at the St. Thomas Aquinas School Park at Cantonments, Accra.
The football gala saw the participation of six movement and logistics companies namely: Bollore Transport and Logistics, Stellar Logistics, Freight Consult, DHL Express, DHL Global Forwarding and eventual winners, Mcdan Shipping Company.
All the six participating teams grouped into two.Group A comprised; DHL Express, DHLGlobal Forwarding and Bollore Transports and Logistics. Stellar Logistics, McDan and Freight Consult made up Group B
At the end of the group phase, DHL Express and Global Forwarding advanced to the semi-final stage with four and three points respectively. Stellar Logistics and McDan also advanced from Group B into the semis, with four and three points respectively.
DHL Express lose 4-3 on penalties to McDan after a thrilling goalless drawn game to win he first semi final game.
In the other game, Stellar Logistics beat DHL Global Forwarding by two unanswered goals to book a place with McDan in the final.
However, the grand-finale of the gala saw McDan beat Stellar Logistics by two goals to nothing to win the much-coveted trophy and gain all the bragging rights.
