A 35-year-old man, Abidemi Oluwaseun, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly hiring hoodlums to attack a teacher who flogged his 15-year-old daughter.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement, said the suspect invaded Baptist Girls College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, with two thugs to attack the teacher.

DSP Oyeyemi identified the suspected hoodlums as Fayesele Olabanji, 25, and Alebiosu Quawiyu, 24, adding that the police swung into action after receiving a distress call from the school principal.

He said the police were informed that three men, armed with a brand new cutlass, invaded the school with an unregistered vehicle and threatened to hack down a teacher.

“Upon the distress call, the DPO, Kemta division, CSP Opebiyi Sunday, mobilised his men and moved to the scene, where the three men were apprehended right on the school premises.

“The unregistered Toyota car and the cutlass were recovered from them.

“On interrogation, Abidemi Oluwaseun confirmed hiring the two men to the school to teach the teacher who beat his daughter the lesson of his life.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that while the teacher was teaching, some of the students, including the suspect’s daughter, were mocking the teacher and distracting other students.

“The teacher, after identifying those disturbing the class, caned them as a corrective measure. But the suspect’s daughter went home and reported to her father upon which her father mobilised two thugs and stormed the school with the cutlass,” the police spokesman added.

DSP Oyeyemi said the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered that the suspects be properly investigated and charged.
