The Nsuta Circuit Court presided over by Her Honour, Lydia Osei Marfo, has sentenced Kofi Duku, 23, mason to 20 years imprisonment for having an unnatural carnal knowledge of a 64-year-old visually impaired woman.
The court also sentenced him to five years imprisonment for stealing the victim’s GHC 5 and her mobile phone valued at GHC 200.
He pleaded guilty to both counts and the sentence is to run concurrently.
The court further imposed a fine of GHC 1,000 as compensation and medical expenses for the victim.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector James Obeng told the court that both the accused and the victim are residents at Krobo, a suburb of Asante Mampong.

He said in December, 2017, the accused took advantage of the absence of the victim’s family members and on two occasions, had sex with the victim through her anus.
Kofi Duku however managed to escape to Sefwi after the case was reported to the police for investigation.
The prosecutor said on March 28, 2018, the accused nicodemously returned to the town and as usual took advantage of the absence of the family members of the victim and went to have sex with her.

Luck however eluded him as the alarm raised by the victim attracted some people who managed to apprehend him when he tried to escape and handed him over to the police.
He said a doctor’s report confirmed the sexual assault.
The convict in his caution statement also admitted his guilt and was charged with the offence and arraigned before court.
