The 2016 Presidential Candidate of the Conventions People Party (CPP) Ivor Greenstreet has described the death of Major Mahama as disturbing to the nation.

According to him, his death was ‘un-Ghanaian’ hence with this he believes Ghanaians will learn to love one another amidst disagreements or fights.

“It’s disturbing. We pray after this there would be calmness. Like president Akufo-Addo said what took place is un-Ghanaian. We are pleading with the people of Ghana to love one another. Even if we disagree or have a problem this is not what should happen…” he said during an interview with Adom News at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

He said the lynching of Major Mahama should be the last case of lynching in the country.

Mr Greenstreet, however, said the practice of lynching could only be stopped in the country when state institutions work.

He has, therefore, called on the government to ensure that state institutions are strengthened to function the way they should be functionin

“We have always been lawless and we have to understand whatever happened to him can happen to any of us. Christians aren’t supposed to act like that. May his soul rest in peace…” he said.

The remains of the late Major Mahama have been laid in state Friday morning at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

Several mourners including key politicians and military men have gathered at the forecourt of the State House to pay their last respect to Major Mahama.
