President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a two-day working visit to the Volta Region as part of his nationwide “Resetting Ghana” accountability tour.
The announcement was made by the Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, during a breakfast meeting with members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in Ho.

President John Dramani Mahama is expected to embark on a two-day working tour of the Volta Region, during which he will inspect ongoing development projects, inaugurate completed facilities and engage residents on the government’s development agenda.
The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, said the tour will begin on Thursday with a symbolic sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the 24-Hour Economy Market at Juapong in the North Tongu District.
According to Mr Gunu, although all 18 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the Volta Region will benefit from the market project, the Juapong ceremony will serve as the official symbolic launch for the initiative across the districts.

The President will also inspect the newly constructed 1,500-capacity multipurpose assembly hall at Peki College of Education, built with funding from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).
The tour will continue with an inspection of sections of the government’s “Big Push” road projects, including the Asikuma to Anyirawase Road, the UHAS bypass, and Anyirawase to Ho Road.
President Mahama is further expected to inspect the multipurpose laboratory project at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) main campus at Sokode, a project initiated during his previous administration.
The first day of the tour will end with the launch of the Free Primary Healthcare Programme at the Ho Municipal Hospital, where the President is expected to outline government’s plans to improve access to primary healthcare.

On the second day of the tour, President Mahama will inspect the Ho Sports Stadium to assess its current condition as part of government’s plans to improve sports infrastructure in the region.
He will later participate in a citizens’ engagement forum at the C.M. Apeti Auditorium of Ho Technical University, where government officials will account for development projects undertaken in the region while giving residents the opportunity to ask questions and offer feedback.
The President will then travel to the Akatsi North District to inaugurate the newly completed District Police Headquarters at Ave-Dakpa, a project that was initiated during James Gunu’s tenure as District Chief Executive before it was abandoned and later completed by the current administration as the volta regional Minister.
The tour will conclude with an inspection of the ongoing Ho–Denu road project.
Mr. Gunu urged journalists to provide accurate and timely coverage of the President’s visit, assuring them that the Regional Coordinating Council and its Public Relations Unit would provide all the necessary information to facilitate their work.
The Regional Minister also highlighted the progress of road infrastructure in the region, noting that the Volta Region has a road network spanning about 981.9 kilometres, with over 350 kilometres currently under the government’s flagship “Big Push” road programme.
He added that the road projects have created significant employment opportunities, engaging nearly 780 workers, including engineers, artisans, traders and young people, while boosting economic activities in communities along the construction corridors.
Chairman of the GJA Volta chapter Dr. Harrison Kofi Belly thanked the minister for the kind gesture and pledged the media’s commitment in ensuring accuracy and speed of reportage during the President tour.
