Former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, has emerged as the early frontrunner in the race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairmanship, according to a new poll by Global InfoAnalytics.
The survey shows Mr Vanderpuye leading with 26.8% support among NDC grassroots respondents, followed by former National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo with 19.3%, setting the stage for what could be a closely contested race.
Former Northern Regional Minister Sofo Azorka placed third with 6.4%, narrowly ahead of former Ghana High Commissioner to Egypt Alhaji Said Sinare, who polled 6.3%.
Former Minister for Local Government and Rural Development Akwasi Opong-Fosu secured 1.7%, while Nii Armah Ashitey recorded 0.0% support.
Other aspirants collectively accounted for 4.1% of responses, while none of the respondents selected the “No opinion” option.
The findings suggest that although Mr Vanderpuye currently holds an early lead among the party’s grassroots supporters, the contest remains competitive, with Mr Ofosu Ampofo emerging as his closest challenger ahead of the NDC’s internal elections.
