President John Dramani Mahama has assured members of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom that his administration remains committed to accountability, transparency and national development.

He gave the assurance during a town hall meeting in London held on the sidelines of the Ghana-UK Investment Summit, an initiative aimed at strengthening trade relations between Ghana and the United Kingdom, deepening economic cooperation and attracting strategic investments into the country.

Addressing participants, President Mahama highlighted ongoing constitutional review processes aimed at broadening diaspora participation in Ghana’s governance system.

According to him, the proposed reforms would create opportunities for eligible dual citizens to serve in Parliament and hold ministerial positions, expanding the role of Ghanaians abroad in national development and decision-making.

The President also spoke about Ghana’s economic outlook, pointing to what he described as growing international recognition of the country’s recovery efforts and reform agenda.

He noted that Ghana is increasingly being viewed as a reference point for economic recovery, expressing optimism about the country’s prospects despite recent economic challenges.

On regional integration, President Mahama said efforts are being made to strengthen cooperation across Africa through the African Continental Free Trade Area, describing it as a key driver of economic growth and shared prosperity on the continent.

He stressed that deeper regional collaboration would create new opportunities for businesses, facilitate trade and accelerate Africa’s development agenda.

The President further acknowledged the significant contribution of the Ghanaian diaspora to the country’s development, describing Ghanaians living abroad as important partners in advancing socio-economic transformation and strengthening Ghana’s international relationships.

The town hall meeting provided an opportunity for members of the diaspora to engage directly with the President on issues affecting Ghana’s development and their role in supporting national progress.
