National Chairman of the party, Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, revealed this to the media after stakeholders meeting with political parties and members of Eminent Advisory Committee over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to compile a new Voters Register.

“The bombshell the EC’s presentation dropped was that, the Voters Register will be ready by 8th November, 2020,” he said.

The NDC Chairman said if the date given is anything to go by, then it means the new register will be ready three weeks to the elections – a situation he described as a recipe for disaster.

Mr Ofosu-Ampofo said their argument about bad timing has been vindicated by the EC’s exposé at the meeting.

“The electoral law requires political parties to have a copy of the register 21 days before the elections and given the date, it is obvious the EC cannot meet this deadline,” he added.

The NDC Chairman stressed that, the political parties opposed to the new register did not reach consensus with the EC, therefore, their demonstrations would still go on.
