Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Papa Owusu-Ankomah, does not see himself as part of the diplomatic corps.
Rather, he said he remains a politician committed to serving under the Akufo-Addo administration to accelerate Ghana’s development.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme, Monday, the UK High Commissioner said he accepted the position because President Akufo-Addo saw his potential to represent Ghana’s interest well in the UK.
However, he explained that, the opportunity given him does not qualify him to call himself a diplomat.
“I always remain a politician; I’m not a diplomat. I won’t make that mistake because I’m 61 and would have been on pension as a diplomat,” he told show host, Philip Osei Bonsu.
The former Member of Parliament for Sekondi revealed that, he is still active in partisan politics after existing Parliament.
He said he misses front-line politics but is actively contributing his quota at the grassroots level.
