The Director-General of the Motor, Traffic and Transport Department, COP Christian Tetteh Yehonu, has cautioned police personnel to put an end to what he described as illegal extortion of monies from road users.

He said personnel who breach the laws will face the full rigors of the law.

According to him, the police service has put together a formidable strategy to mitigate the issue of traffic police misconduct and possibly put an end to it, adding that offenders will be severely punished to serve as deterrent to others.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of training for police outriders, COP Yehonu said the public should not be perturbed but report acts of lawlessness and corruption among police officers.
